Before Treatment with botox, Juvéderm, and fillers
To reduce the risk of bleeding and bruising, avoid the following for 2 days before treatment:
–Alcoholic beverages
–Anti-inflammatory medications including aspirin
–Vitamin E, fish oil, or flaxseed oil
–Ginkgo Biloba
If you have a history of oral herpes (cold sores) and anticipate treatment in or around the lips, you should be pre-treated before the procedure by your primary care provider or plan to initiate antiviral medication, as prescribed by your primary care provider, immediately following your treatment.
Make sure you avoid dental work and any vaccines for 2-4 weeks before filler and for at least 2 weeks after.

To maximize the effectiveness of treatment:
Do not use antiperspirant or deodorant for 72 hours before treatment. Please arrive at the appointment with any underarm hair removed by shaving (waxing decreases the ability to focus your treatment on specific hyperactive areas)
After your treatment:
Do not massage, scratch, or rub the injection site(s). Effects are not immediate – you should see results in 3-14 days. If more results are desired, follow-up treatments can be scheduled 14 days after the initial treatment. Avoid antiperspirant or deodorant use for 2 hours after injection(s)
After treatment with botox, Juvéderm, and fillers
–Remain upright (no bending over, reclining, or lying down) for 4 hours
–Do not massage, scratch, or rub the injection site(s)
–Do not use Mia or other brand face scrubbers for 24 hours
–Do not use Arbonne or other brand ultrasound wands for 24 hours
–Do not use anti-inflammatory medication, including aspirin, for 24 hours after treatment
–Avoid makeup for 2 hours after injection(s)
–Do not wear a hat for 4 hours after injection(s)
BOTOX® Treatments
–Exercise the treated muscles every 15 minutes for 4 hours
–Effects are not immediate – you should see results in 3-14 days
–If more results are desired, follow-up treatments can be scheduled in 14 days
Filler Treatments:
-You may apply ice, as needed, for the remainder of the day to reduce swelling
–Gently massage any nodules that appear after 24 hours; otherwise, do not massage, scratch, or rub the injection site(s), including avoiding the use of Mia or other brand face scrubbers for 24 hours after treatment
–Avoid prolonged sun or UV exposure for 2 weeks, especially if you have a history of oral herpes
–Avoid saunas and/or steam baths for 2 weeks to reduce the risk of bruising
–Drink plenty of water for the 48 hours following injection to maximize the benefits of the dermal filler

After Photo
Schedule your follow-up 15 minutes after the photo appointment, 14-20 days after your treatment, or text your selfie photos (the same as your before photos: relaxed face, smiling, frowning, looking up, and a pucker if we treated your lips) to Cunningham Clinic to complete your treatment chart.
