IPL – for more clear and beautiful skin in just 10 days

What is IPL (Intense Pulsed LIght)?

Many of the patients we see near Denver are thrilled with their IPL treatment results. IPL, which stands for Intense Pulsed Light, is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that uses broad-spectrum light to target pigmentation, redness, and other skin imperfections. Unlike standard lasers, IPL delivers multiple wavelengths of light, making it effective for treating a variety of skin concerns such as sun damage, age spots, and broken capillaries. The light penetrates the skin, stimulating collagen production and promoting a clearer, more youthful complexion. IPL laser treatment is our top choice for those seeking a quick, effective way to rejuvenate their skin with minimal downtime.

Brighter skin, renewed radiance

How does IPL work?

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) works by emitting multiple wavelengths of light that penetrate the skin to target specific pigments like melanin and hemoglobin. The light energy is absorbed by these pigments, breaking them down while stimulating collagen production in deeper layers of the skin. IPL for dark spots helps reduce the appearance of sunspots, redness, and fine lines, leaving the skin clearer and more youthful. IPL is a safe, non-invasive treatment that can be customized to address various skin concerns with minimal downtime.

Frequently Asked Questions

Avoid direct, excessive sun exposure or tanning one month prior to treatment.

During treatment there will be a bright flash of light from the Lumecca that feels like a light elastic sensation. Redness and a slight warming of the skin are normal after treatment and usually subsides within an hour. Over the next 24-48 hours you may see a darkening of pigmented spots; in the week afterwards the pigmented lesions flake off, leading to an evening out of skin tone. After treating vascular lesions you may see the vein blanch and disappear or a color change in the vessel which dissipates after a few days.

The number of Lumecca IPL sessions needed depends on the type of skin concerns, skin type, and severity of damage:

Pigmentation: One to three sessions is usually enough for pigmentation, but maintenance treatments may be recommended.

Rosacea or blood vessels: Two to five sessions may be needed for optimal results.

Vascular treatments: Results can be seen in up to two weeks.

In general, a course of three to six treatments is recommended for optimal results, with sessions spaced every four to six weeks.  We also have some patients that are completely satisified with their results in just two or three treatments.

After the first session, you may start to notice sun damage and changes in skin complexion within a few days. The skin will continue to appear younger and more radiant over time, with the most noticeable results occurring after 1-2 weeks. Opting for multiple photofacial sessions will enhance the final outcome. For vascular treatments like facial telangiectasias, results may become visible within 2 weeks.

Most patients do not experience any side effects, and any skin reaction usually resolves within a few hours. Patients may be sensitive to sunlight immediately after treatment. It is recommended to avoid direct sunlight and tanning.

We use the Lumecca device for IPL. We consider ourselves the Lumecca IPL experts in Denver. Lumecca can be used on all areas of the body. The most common areas of treatment are zones that are regularly exposed to the sun. This often includes the face, neck, décolletage, legs, hands and arms.
